Where is the wedding taking place?

Our wedding will take place in El Centro district of Oaxaca de Juárez, Oaxaca, Mexico. The ceremony will be held at Templo de Santo Domingo de Guzmán, followed by our celebration at Centro Gastronómico de Oaxaca. For more information review the Events tab.

Are kids welcome?

While we love your little ones, we did not have the space available to accomodate everyone's children. We hope you can enjoy a parents' weekend away with us!

What airport should I fly into?

Accepted Answer

Fly into Oaxaca International Airport (OAX). The airport is approximately 20–30 minutes from Oaxaca’s historic center, depending on traffic.

When should I arrive in Oaxaca?

Accepted Answer

We recommend arriving at least one day before the wedding so you have time to settle in, explore, and enjoy Oaxaca before the celebrations begin. Additionally, there is a cocktail hour on Friday evening called the Rompe hielos (icebreaker) for those who can make it. More information about the Rompe hielos to come.

How should I get around Oaxaca?

Oaxaca’s historic center is very walkable, and we recommend guests stay in this area. There are many hotels, restaurants, shops, and attractions within walking distance of one another. Taxis and private transportation are readily available.

Is Uber available in Oaxaca?

Accepted Answer

Uber is not currently available in Oaxaca City, so plan to use local taxis, hotel-arranged transportation, or private drivers.

Will transportation be provided for the wedding?

We’ll share any wedding-day shuttle or transportation information closer to the date.

What will the weather be like in March?

Accepted Answer

March is typically warm and dry during the day and cooler in the evenings. We recommend bringing light clothing for daytime exploring and a light jacket or wrap for nighttime.

What should I wear to the wedding?

The dress code is Formal Attire. Since parts of the celebration may take place outdoors, we recommend choosing shoes you’ll be comfortable walking and dancing in.

What is a Calenda?

A calenda is a traditional Oaxacan street celebration filled with music, dancing, and larger-than-life puppets called monos de calenda. Following our ceremony, we’ll celebrate together with a calenda through the streets of Oaxaca all the way to reception. Come ready to dance!

What currency should I bring?

The local currency is the Mexican peso (MXN). Credit cards are widely accepted at hotels and many restaurants and shops, but we recommend carrying some pesos for taxis, markets, tips, and smaller businesses.

Should I exchange money before arriving?

Recommended but not required. ATMs are available throughout Oaxaca, but we recommend using ATMs located inside the airport, banks or other secure locations. It’s always helpful to have some pesos on hand when you arrive.

Can I drink the tap water?

We recommend drinking bottled or filtered water rather than tap water. Hotels and restaurants are accustomed to international visitors and typically provide purified water and ice.

Eat, drink, explore, and enjoy! Oaxaca is known for its incredible food, mezcal, markets, art, textiles, architecture, and culture.
